Drawing and painting directly from the imagination is always much more fun than slavishly, unimaginatively, mechanically copying an image, not that such technical know-how doesn’t have it value, but understanding anatomy will only add to your mastery in this area of artistic endeavor. Knowing genuine anatomy gives you insight into how to successfully use reference material, enabling you to successfully express your unique imagination.

There are simple rules to remember which I always use when drawing anatomy from memory. I discovered many of these unbreakable rules decades ago and would very much like to share this knowledge with those who share my passion for creative expression with the human form. I have taught classes to aspiring comic book artist and to medical illustrators who have marveled at their increased understanding and technical skill in drawing. What I have learned through the study of anatomy has given me a way of seeing which has benefited me in all areas of artistic achievement.
